As for dinosaurs, the dominant view in academia is that they disappeared from the earth for unknown reasons about 65 million years ago. However, a new view recently challenged the traditional view that some species of dinosaurs survived the extinction disaster to this day.
Today, many Western scientists believe that there are descendants of living dinosaurs on the earth today, or varieties evolved from dinosaurs. They are now trying to find a living dinosaur. Walter Offenburg, an American scholar, is one of them.
Walter Offenburg published a report entitled “living dinosaurs” in the Journal of science and life, No. 778, in France. He introduced in detail his investigation of the “Komodo dragon” living in the “Komodo island” in the little rata islands of the Indian Ocean. “Komodo dragon” is a kind of carnivorous reptile with a small number and a clear shape. The adult Komodo dragon is about 3 meters long and weighs about 60 kg. It has an excellent sense of smell. It can find the animal’s body according to its smell from a distance of 12 km. Its food consumption is also amazing. A 52 kg Komodo dragon can swallow 26 kg of meat in 17 minutes. Komodo dragon has 50 teeth, the front teeth are conical, short and straight; the teeth on both sides and the back are only a few millimeters thick, squeezed together, with sharp grooves on the sides. Its skull is like a snake, soft and easy to deform, so it can swallow large pieces of meat. Walter Offenburg also found that the life span of Komodo dragon is generally more than 50 years. Each adult Komodo dragon has a “sphere of influence” of about 5 square kilometers.
He believes that the Komodo dragon is probably a surviving variant of the ancient dinosaurs.
In addition, in the remote region of likole (between Sanga River and Ubangi River) in the northeast of Congo, there has been a legend of a strange animal. The strange animal weighs more than ten tons and its body length is about 12-13 meters. It has a long and flexible snake neck and a long and thick tail, leaving footprints like hippos, but each foot has three short claws. Some photos also show It shows the mark of their lives. Another report said that since monsters often enter Lake Trey from the Beina River and overturn wooden boats, people will stake and block the population. Just as a monster appears, people will attack it and kill it. Some people also eat its meat, but these people will die for some reasons soon.
In February 1980, Roy Michael, a biologist at the University of Chicago, visited the Congo River Basin. He talked to dozens of people who claimed to have seen the monster in Africa. He showed pictures of animals on all continents of the world to the local people. In these pictures, he deliberately mixed the pictures of Lei long in them. The villagers quickly recognized the local animals, including Lei long, who was believed to be extinct. Therefore, Michael believes that the monsters in Congo are real animals, not myths. They are probably the descendants of raptors. Because in Lake Trey area, there is a large area of uncultivated tropical rainforest and almost no explored swamp. It is said that the natural climate there has not changed since millions of years to tens of millions of years. Its geographical environment and ecological environment are very similar to the “dinosaur era” 65 million years ago. The giant herbivorous dinosaur, leilong, which was active for a while at the end of the Baijian period, gradually evolved into the present. Heaven is a smaller variant.
Although the above findings and hypotheses have not been finalized, they are actually a serious challenge to the evolutionary history and animal taxonomy so far. Now people are not only faced with the mystery of the extinction of dinosaurs, but also the mystery of whether there are still “living dinosaurs” on the earth. These are all topics of great value to be further explored and studied.
